2011 Annual Convention
A great time was had by all who attended the 2011 Annual Convention held June 9, 10, and 11.  The weekend kicked off with the Registration Reception sponsored by Union Pacific Railroad.  Convention attendees reminisced with old friends and made new friends during the reception.  Later that evening they all came together again for the Transportation Poker Night. Several gift baskets were donated for the prizes for Poker Night. Convention guests played for raffle tickets and then used them to vie for the baskets.  A great time was had by all.

Idaho Senator Tim Corder, Chairman, Senate Ag Committee shared his views with the group on Friday morning during the Industry Breakfast. He encouraged everyone to be more involved in issues that are important and affect the industry.
This year for the Ladies' Brunch there were two program options. The first option was a “Fun with Photography” class  presented by Tiffany Hix.  The second option was a scenic tour around Payette Lake.  Both the class and the tour were well received.   Moving on to Friday night, the groups gathered in upper level of the pavilion for the Associate Members and Suppliers’ Social Hour , followed by the dinner where Tom Stenzel, President & CEO, United Fresh Produce Association, spoke to us about healthy eating and new programs in schools teaching and offering healthy foods to children.  He also commented on the new “My Plate”, that had been recently released from USDA.

Moving to the lower pavilion later that evening the group enjoyed dessert, played Blackjack, and listened to one-man-band John Hoff as he played and took requests.

Saturday the group got down to a little business as the members met for the Annual Business Meeting that morning and then in the afternoon everyone was excited about the rematch of the Second Annual Jim Watson Memorial Softball Game, the Fruits vs. the Veggies.  The Fruits were victorious in the 2010 Tournament and the Veggies came out the winners in 2011.

Mark your calendars now for the Annual Convention, June 7, 8, 9, 2012,  as we celebrate 50 years of Association.
